Galaxy of stars

A true galáctico..   Mental Dental (MBP)
It's the recipient of more stars than any other of my novels...

Part of a 3⭐ review... On Amazon.co.uk
Dr. Jessie Stacks, a competent and caring dentist, is devastated when a healthy patient dies in her surgery. Despite being exonerated she still has to endure the police enquiry and press frenzy which ensue following this sudden and unexpected death. She also experiences a crisis of confidence in her own dental skills and proficiency as a result of the traumatic episode. She sets out to discover if there have been any other similar unexpected deaths within the setting of a dental surgery and whether there are any common factors linking any such deaths, enlisting the invaluable help of her father, an eminent dental surgeon "with connections in high places". He manages to access sensitive and privileged information for her and as Jessie delves deeper into the circumstances of other similar deaths she begins to see a disturbing pattern emerge. But what possible motive could there be for these random deaths? Is it possible that such incredible depravity actually exists? Eventually Jessie finds the unwelcome answers to these questions.
I thought the plot ingenious and entertaining (although hopefully implausible!) and I'm sure it has done nothing to help foster good patient-dentist relationships!

An Amazon.com Review...
If you hate going to the dentist......
If,like me, you really hate going to the dentist--this mystery of serial killing dentists is just for you--the "accidental" deaths are so over the top that they are really funny.
My only problem with the book is that these amazing dental deaths are never explained--I kept wondering how these murders were achieved. Story is over the top--but highly entertaining.

4⭐ reviews...

There were more on the Amazon.co.uk site,  including 5⭐

The characters seem so real, its almost like I know them! The writer's best and latest book is excellent. I was scared of dentists before I read this. Now I know they are human too, they make mistakes. Except for that scary dentist in Little Shop of Horrors of course!

Excellent read! Couldn't put the book down. Storyline was great, looking forward to the next book! Very creative writer. Recommend this book to everyone

Read it... If you dare.

Phantasms in the Courtroom

Courtroom spectre
A Court in India has had to close due to a haunting.
The ghost in question is the lady magistrate who worked in the court. The magistrate had given several verdicts as additional session juror. She was very fond of the premises and was seen always in the premises. Last year the magistrate left for Tirupati for a darshan. On her way back, she met with a road accident and died.

Maybe I need to diversify into Phantasms in the Courtroom...

Broadchurch series ll

Well the Broadchurch high finished on a bit of a low.
Mental Dental (MBP)  could possibly do better if it was serialised.
Of course I would say that.
However if it was read by a TV producer,  I'm sure they would agree.

MBP

How to get a brilliant story to people in the know is the issue.

Any ideas,  please contact me.

In the meantime,  series lll will hopefully be better.

Mythical creatures and science

My foray into the mythology and intrigue of scifi.
Phobic Wars : is science fiction meeting science fact,  myths and mystery blended with a love story to boot.
Set in Italy and the UK,  this book will keep you on your toes.
Bugs,  flying ones v mythological creatures that turn the baddies into heroes.
The environmental undertones are also present,  making it an ethnically sound story.
It was my second novel and I enjoyed writing it. It's received some mixed feedback but it is a wonderful novel that you have to be fully engaged and immersed in.
It's available on kindle and paperback,  free kindle version if you purchase a paperback version.

Friendly and not so friendly visitors

A hospital stay is in most part,  traumatic to a point.
Add in an apparition from a spectral being and the benign admission becomes a nightmare.
These scenes of Phantasms, ghosts and ghoulish goings on have been witnessed and shared by friends and colleagues in various hospitals around the world.

The desire to communicate with the living by the dead tend to result in frighteningly good material.
Material we have tried to share with you.
The theme and thread of ghoulish phenomenon is maintained throughout the collection of tales.
These stories have been spun slightly to make them more readable but are all real.
They have happened and continue to occur. Shadows and voices with no physical form at their source.
Visitors from beyond the grave,  passing over to our world from the other side.

Please read,  enjoy, share and review the original work of fiction.
A collection of good old fashioned horror, not gore.
The yarns are meant to make you jump and send shivers down your spine. They are not created to shock the reader with bloody mayhem and gore...
Phantasms in the Infirmary is this book that will get you talking and wandering about hospital environments..

Sharing the experience

The question is, are ghosts and apparitions all bad?
People have shared stories of spectral encounters related to Phantasms in the Infirmary and they are not all scary.
Have you ever seen a ghostly figure in a hospital?
Was it good or bad as experiences go?
Would you like to share them with us so they can be retold in Vol II?
If you have any story to share,  please email me via my website.
I will reply and if it's a crackingly good experience, we will use it and acknowledge the source in the next instalment...

Thanks

Sisters of death

An Exerpt from Phantasms in the Infirmary...

Joe was also aware of the cardiac monitor beeping crazily away in a rhythm less cacophony of electrical noise.
The monitor was now showing ventricular fibrillation, an irregular, pulse-less action that was as unproductive as a non-beating heart in asystole.
‘V.F. arrest’was now being loudly muttered among the attendants.
More drugs were being pumped into his veins; he could feel the cold sting of the chemicals entering his body in an attempt to rectify the situation.
The pain became more intensive. It was just before the darkness took over again that Joe saw her again, the nun of death...

Value for money

Writing in value and awareness.
The 4 books I've written although different in content, remain within the genre of fiction. Fiction combined with a thrilling twist that just keeps the reader entertained and wanting more.
The style of Phobic Wars is factual at the start in order to give the reader the background into why cockroaches can be off-putting and could be the bad guys...
The twists are many and they then become the heroes.

How this happens?  You're going to have to read a copy to find out.

More twists than an Italian mountain path...

Strange but true. There are mythical reference, creatures and science intertwined.

Increased readership

Influx of readership
How can one cause an effect on interest in great books without the support of a large publishing house?
Without being badgered into paying out on promotional strategies that more than likely fail?
Without having to undertake a book signing or 20...?

Being Self published is hard work,  esp when one has a stressful day job.

If anyone has any quality tips,  I'd appreciate any ideas...

It's such a time consuming task to try and increase awareness of products I so believe in....

Google Ghost

The Google Street View car visited England in 2014  it captured a creepy image of what appears to be a ghostly figure in an abandoned orphanage in Liverpool.

A figure believed to be a ghost of a little blonde-haired girl can be seen peering out a window.

The car was travelling on Orphan Drive near a the Newsham Park Hospital when it captured something strange in one of the windows of the former hospital and orphanage. In the Street View screenshot, a ghostly figure of what looks like a little girl appears in a bottom window near a light post.

The Liverpool Seamen's Orphan Institution was built in 1871 and completed a few years later in 1874. The orphanage became the Newsham Park Hospital in 1954 which housed the criminally insane. The hospital was closed in 1997. A plan to turn the building into an appartment complex in 2004 was shot down by local officials. The property has been for sale since 2007. Have the ghostly inhabitants influenced the no sale ?

Like the building in Phantasms in the Infirmary,  this edifice has had many lives and revisions...
The building was used as an orphanage, a hospital, and an insane asylum and has been sitting empty for 18 years. Ever since it was abandoned, there have been stories of dozens of ghosts haunting the building. Sightings include strange mists and voices being heard.

Is this a real Phantasms in the Infirmary?

Adrenaline rush... Nice horror

Boo...
'Phantasms in the Infirmary' is a classic scary story collection.
It encompasses the transformation from fear to fun.
It's entertainment not fact.
It allows the reader some escapism from reality,  the thrill of being scared.
The thrill of feeling alive, emotions and a raised pulse with the added security of being safe.  Able to control the stimulus with the turn of a page or flick of a switch.
These are stories that make you jump and may make you feel edgy but without blood and gore.
It's nice horror, fiction with a twist... Adrenaline overdrive!
Ideal for any age, including teenage readers,  boys and girls alike.

These have an origin to the 'campfire' like sharing of stories by hospital staff all over the world.
A warm cup of coffee held firmly during a night shift huddle.  An element of competition to see who could tell the scariest tale.

Give it a spin,  read,  share and make some noise for Phantasms in the Infirmary.

Mythical creatures

An Exerpt from Phobic Wars... My second book.
Its had mixed reviews but you either get it or you don't.  If you are clever & into scifi and mythology,  you will get it..

To make sense of the following,  these newly discovered forms are identified and described...

‘The Medusa Dermaptera are miniature bugs that appear to be related to Earwigs, but not restricted to their dimensions. Like the mythical gorgons in Greek mythology, these super bugs seem to have independently functioning antennae that can sting and digest anything in its path and massive jaws that can crunch through almost anything....

Music to enthuse writing

Music can influence writing.
Some prefer classical music.
Some like easy listening,  rock,  symphonic rock...  The options are endless.
My preferred genre to write to includes music by groups such as Yes,  Pink Floyd,  some Deep Purple,  Glenn Hughes,  Camel,  especially song within a song and the whole Stationary Traveller album.
Barclay James Harvest,  kansas, Rush, UFO and even some Van Halen....
They all influence mood,  thinking and ideas especially with the memories some of the tunes trigger...

Street cockroaches

Cockroach Art.... the big, black bugs are made from garbage bags containing who-knows-what.

They were placed in Stavanger, Norway, by Milan-based street artist Fra.Biancoshock, who calls the intervention "Street Coachroaches."

Appropriate considering these bugs can be found in trash,  garbage a lot of the time!

I should have used this idea to promote Phobic Wars!!

Film waiting to be made

Great books are written with live, care, imagination and hope.

Mental Dental (Murder by Proxy)  is one of those...
Written with the intention to entertain.
It needs to be discovered,  recommended and even made into a movie!!

It's got a great script waiting to be developed into a best selling thriller of a movie.
This one has plenty of blood and Gore,  sexual and crime...

Great reads recommend this book...  See my Twitter account @Author_man_ram

MD

Open Wide

Mental Dental is a wonderful work of fiction.

The story involves a dentist trying to prove her innocence,  stumbling on a BIG  problem...

Deaths are occurring in a scattered fashion,  unseen, under the radar, unchallenged...

Jessie Stack now has to get to the "root"  of the problem.

What follows is some of the shenanigans that she detects...

The procedure would involve cleaning up the area, re-cementing the cap back and then home.
A simple procedure that would not be at all complicated and a danger level of Nil…
However something went drastically wrong, the patient seemed to become agitated soon after the Lidocaine, local anaesthetic was injected.
According to the report, the lady began to call for help as she sat in the examination chair, as if writhing with excruciating pain.
Jessie read on with interest as the report stated that Mrs Barr then proceeded to get up of the chair, slinging herself towards the tray with all the instruments, grabbed a scalpel that was on the tray and stabbed herself several times...

If this has triggered your interest,  then download it and open wide...

My book is a good psychological Thriller.  The saving grace is... It's fiction so we all hope this doesn't happen.

  Thrilling

The Nun of Death

The Nun of death

This is only the first part of this story.

It is adapted from experiences in one of the hospitals I worked in,  during the early stages of my career.
Stories of the Nun made my night shifts.... A living nightmare!!

No self-respecting compilation of ghost stories would be complete without a creepy nun story. There is something about their dark habits, uniform as opposed to their inclinations.
Their legs unseen under the heavy dresses, they seem to float effortlessly over any terrain that can freak people out. It is ironic that these peace loving and helpful members of the Catholic Church can somehow terrorise people with their attire…!
St Augustus hospital was no exception to the apparition of a veiled form or two. It had not only been a convent at one point in its relatively long life but also Nuns had long been nurses too.
Reports had been numerous about the nun that could be seen at the old staircase that led from the care of the elderly ward on the ground floor to the male medical ward. Ward 11 was a particular favourite site to meet ”Sister Fatality”or “The Nun of Death”as she was more commonly known.

If you want to get to know Sister Fatality,  download a copy of Phantasms in the Infirmary...  Download

Atlantis... Metal revelation coincidences

As the author of Phobic Wars,  I was intrigued by the article I just received from Google alerts...

THE mystical, ‘magical’ metal which is said to have propelled Atlantis to the heights of ancient technology may have been found in a 2600-year-old shipwreck off Sicily.

But is it really the gleaming red alloy named orichalcum?

This is mentioned in my book,  no not orichalcum but the brooch one of the protagonists has from Atlantis is made of a mythical metal,  similar to that found in a shipwreck... Spooky coincidence?

Murder one in the book

Mental Dental... This is a snippet of the first murder in this book...

They took over from the staff and like a green clad cavalry, worked on John, thumping his chest, inserting cannulae into veins, injecting drugs, giving oxygen and intubating his airway.
They even considered an attempt to shock his heart but due to the absence of any electrical activity, this consideration was soon abandoned.
They continued to try and resuscitate him but after forty minutes, they declared him deceased. John Massey now lay alone on the previously clean floor, chest exposed, tubes protruding from his lifeless body.

‘This is a mess, a complete mess’Wendy exclaimed to one of her colleagues. ‘I have never seen this happen before in over fifteen years of working as a dental nurse, what could have gone so wrong?’

Cockroach love

A poor comparator

According to fossil records, cockroaches have been around for millions of years. They can live without food for a month and may even be able to survive a nuclear blast. This proves that cockroaches, like love, can last forever.

Do you agree?
I think it's a pretty poor comparator,  how can love and cockroaches be mentioned in the same breath?

Work Life Balance ... Help!

21st century life can be stressful
The work / life balance has its good points. Finding time to live other than work is tight sometimes. The day job tends to "Zap" the life out of us and all we want to do is colapse and vegetate after that...

However there are many things we can do, I prefer to remain creative and write, paint and play guitar (a good alternative to the long list of DIY chores!).
However, lately it is becoming significantly harder to achieve this.
There are a now a number of unfinished and some yet to be started projects... so if anyone has any ideas on how to motivate and schedule hobbies in, please share them.

I would love to be systematic and dedicate allotted times for the number of things in my head, so many that they get left by the way side.
HELP!!

Being one of the Story tellers

Story telling has been used for centuries to pass on wisdom.
They educate us on morality,  academic prowess and language. Stories however,  also entertain and form the basis of other mediums of entertainment including television and radio.
The books I have written, I believe, accomplish the whole spectrum of these fore mentioned aims.
Sharing them with strangers as well as those nearest and dearest takes time,  revisions and daring.  Daring to be the story tellers,  daring to be original, daring to be open with ones translated thoughts.  Thoughts transferred onto a medium that can be seen,  read,  understood and critiqued by anyone.
I am proud to be one of these story tellers.
I am glad to be brave enough to impart and share ideas.  Pleased to offer you a glimpse of my stories. Honoured to have them read and pleased they are enjoyable.
The experience is excellent on the whole.  Few critical reviews have been negative. This is to be expected as the style,  composition or story will not suit everyone.  One can only learn from them and become a stronger and more effective story teller. As my wife says,  Every threat is an opportunity in disguise..
I plan to tell more stories,  write more books standing firmly and proudly behind my current portfolio of work.

Snippets from Phantasms in the Infirmary....

‘What is wrong Chloe for God’s sake, you’re worrying me?’ Clarissa enquired worriedly. ‘It, it’s a strange and unearthly voice ‘Chloe stammered.

‘So what did it say?’ she continued. Her answer was one that made even the most experienced of nurse turn as white as the clinical sheets they used on the beds… ‘It said, put that down or die’
‘Oh my God, what is going on? Are we going to die?’ yelled one of the other staff members who had joined the worried huddle.
